Residents in almost entire Cumilla city have been suffering a lot for irregular gas supply for the past three consecutive days, with some areas experiencing extremely low pressure and others receiving no gas at all.
The disruption has brought household cooking to a standstill for many families, forcing them to turn to alternative fuels at additional cost.
Food shops and restaurants have also come under mounting pressure as more residents seek meals outside their homes.
The Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company Limited (BGDCL), however, has yet to clarify when gas supply will return to normal.
In South Chartha, resident Sahadat Hossain said his household had been without gas for more than 48 hours. With no way to cook at home, the family had been relying on food bought from restaurants. Even that option, he said, had become increasingly difficult because many eateries were also struggling to meet demand.
