Bangladesh and the United States have reached a new milestone in bilateral relations by signing a strategic agreement on peaceful civil nuclear cooperation.
The pact was signed on September 25 by Prime Minister’s Adviser for Science and Technology Rehan Asad and U.S. Secretary Jacob Helberg, according to a statement from the BNP media cell. The initiative follows a formal proposal presented by U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor during a recent visit.
Ahead of the signing, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam reaffirmed Dhaka’s positive stance on the proposal, emphasizing that any engagement with Washington is carefully evaluated to ensure it directly serves the national interest and benefits the people of Bangladesh.
