Dengue infections continue to surge in Khulna division with 329 new patients admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours (Saturday 8am to Sunday 8am), according to the latest report of the health department.
Of the newly admitted patients, 288 were admitted to government hospitals and 41 to private hospitals.
One more dengue-related death was reported during the period, raising the total number of deaths from the mosquito-borne disease in the division this year to 45.
Since January 1, a total of 12,632 dengue patients have been reported in Khulna division.
Of them, 11,146 patients have recovered and returned home, while 1,140 patients are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals.
Besides, 301 patients have been referred to other places for better treatment, the report said.
Khulna district has recorded the highest number of dengue cases in the division.
So far, 4,766 patients have been identified in the district, while 2,598 dengue patients have been diagnosed at Khulna Medical College Hospital.
